Hello! My name is Madison Duensing. I am a third year Mechanical Engineering student from Traverse City, Michigan. It is an honor and a privilege to represent the Sisters of Theta Chi Epsilon as a 2016 Winter Carnival Queen Finalist. My involvement on campus includes serving as vice president of Women in the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (WASME), membership in the American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME), the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), and a cohort with the Honors College Pavlis Institute. One of the most meaningful organizations I belong to is Theta Chi Epsilon - the first sorority founded on campus! Through my studies here at Tech, I have discovered that I find designing/inventing extremely fascinating. Give me a problem that needs to be solved and I am all about it! I have a drive and determination to improve the lives of anyone or anything in any way possible. This summer I head to Ghana, Africa, with projects for the Pavlis Institute, where I will have the opportunity to problem solve, design and implement a variety of projects to benefit the communities there. In my spare time - all two minutes of it! - I enjoy volleyball, softball, mountain biking, adventuring, Zumba, and a new experience for me, broomball! My favorite movies are anything by Disney or anything that will make me laugh - with “Dodgeball,” “The Martian” and “The Ringer” at the top of my list. A big THANK YOU to my merchant sponsor, Flowers By Sleeman, as well as my family, friends, and Theta Chi sisters for their endless support. I am deeply humbled to be able to represent Michigan Technological University and feel so very fortunate to have this opportunity. Hello, for those of you who may not know me, my name is Danielle Janny and I am extremely honored to represent Theta Chi Epsilon for this year's Winter Carnival as a queen finalist. As a young child, I excelled with numbers and chemistry so it made sense to come to Michigan Tech and become a part of the chemical engineering department here. Along with being a member of Theta Chi Epsilon, I also belong to American Institute of Chemical Engineers, Omega Chi Epsilon (Chemical Engineer Honor Society), previous Orientation Team Leader, and LeaderShape graduate. When I am not busy studying or at a student org meeting, I enjoy watching the Packers, swimming or playing water polo, and enjoying some good Wisconsin cheese. I look forward to Winter Carnival, helping build a snow statue, playing some snow volleyball, and finalizing “Frozen Paradise” for the Queen's competition! Voting starts January 23rd at 8 am and ends on January 30th at noon! Get your votes in NOW and tell your friends! https://www.involvement.mtu.edu/ To the left you see Jannah Brandt's Fliers which were posted around campus! She's made it onto homecoming court!!
